Following his training, before the establishment
of subspecialty fellowships, Dr. Rosenthal was recruited
to Long Island to develop pediatric neurosurgery for
that geographic area. Practicing pediatric neurosurgery

of infants through childhood and life. This opportunity
promoted his interest and experience in associated
adult disciplines including: craniofacial and skull
base surgery, developmental and compressive spine
disorders, hydrocephalus and tumors in adults and
children, and the impact of central nervous system
dysfunction on patients and family.
Dr. Rosenthal was formerly Chief of
Neurosurgery and Co-Director of the Neuroscience Institute
at Winthrop University Hospital, where he established
the first Neurosurgical Intensive Care Unit on Long
Island. He was also instrumental in bringing the first
CyberKnife to the New York metropolitan area, located
at Winthrop University Hospital.
